A “gi” is the name for an Aikido uniform. One reason for this is so that grappling can be performed. Your normal exercise clothes will rip easily. There you can find Aikido gi, but ones described as judo gi are also great. Just make sure you get a white one.
Also, in Aikido there are a number of techniques and kata that involve weapons. These weapons include bokken, jo, and tanto. If you have any questions about gi or weapons, please ask one of the instructors at the dojo.
